Calm before the Storm

As I sit here and contemplate what I want to write about, we are under a severe weather watch. The storm is coming. They say it’s going to be a big one. During my vacation time, I experienced calmness and then I get home and my life went right back to where I left it. However, there have been a few changes. I got off track due to life circumstances, I got off track due to anxiety, and I talked myself out of my future. Things kept piling up, but you see, it’s only a perception. You can’t let things pile up. Are they really? Or is it just your thought process. If you are in a constant negative state, the storm, you are going to get a storm. You have to face challenges with grace and dignity, not only for yourself, but for other people. As my counselor always says, ” Assume good intentions.” Also, “Don’t feed the bears.”

When people are miserable with their own lives, they will lash out at you because they know you are growing. They know you are distancing yourself from negative experiences. When you transform yourself for the greater good, people will not like it. How do you fight it? You don’t. You stay par for the course. You listen with your heart and hope that whatever they are going through, they will face their demons someday, and know life is so much more than being angry. Life is meant to be enjoyed, to be cherished. People come into your life to deter you. Start recognizing those people faster. But, people also come into your life to help you gain clarity and perspective. They know what you are capable of, they see the potential, and they see and feel the positive change within you. You attract them. Just like protons, I think 😉 Like charges attract like charges. I had a hard time in high school. I just read the other day regarding people who had a hard time focusing in school is they always knew there was something more. Something bigger. However, you want to feel about that, feel it. I felt like I was not necessarily being groomed, but trained for the white picket fence. The American Dream is what they called it back then. Not going to complain, I had great teachers, but I yearned for more. I felt like something was out of my grasp, until now.

You create your own storm. Doesn’t have to be a nasty storm, but you create waves. They get bigger and bigger the more creative you become. You don’t want to stay stagnant. Life is not meant to live day by day, year by year, and then turn around and say, “Where did the time go?” You were watching it pass you by. Make the effort to create whatever you want. It’s hard, but it is so doable. There are opportunities out there for you, you just have to read the signs! Do what you love to do so it doesn’t seem like work. I am definitely in this process. As my good friend and fellow coach continually tells me, ” Trust the process.” She gave me a sticker with that saying on it. She gave it to me when I needed it the most. Is if she knew….. it’s called a sign. Now, you can’t just sit and wait for the process. You engage yourself to create it. There will be hurdles, but always a solution. If you keep a positive mindset, the solution is found faster because you didn’t resist as much. Chew on this. You had the opportunity to fail! A lot of people don’t. You have the opportunity to get up, dust off, and start again. Never settle. I have too many times and I’m done with it. I choose me. I choose how I want to live my life day at a time. Live in the present moment because that is all there is. Create the change.
